Are we right or we were left?

Time has passed by so fast. It's my 2nd year in engineering school. Honestly, engineering wasn't my choice of the year. But then, community taught me that engineering is better than social science and I trusted them. Don't ask me why I did. It's like that one decision in life. Remember your myspace profile picture? Yeah, that kind of decision.

Throughout 2012-2013, I've been reading some books. Since I can't brain non-fictions because 90% of them can't even explain what was going on and I can't stand my curiosity spamming - "WHY DID IT HAPPEN? WHY WOULD SHE TRUST HIM JUST BECAUSE HE'S HANDSOME? WHY WOULD ANYONE WRITE THIS OMG ASDFGHJKL". Anyway, I've been reading some motivational and business books.

One night, I had this session when I have a conversation with myself. It's like commenting and criticizing yourself from others' point of view. So I criticized myself with these- "You sacrificed a thing to do something for that thing" and "You only study for money". Then I stumbled. How can I be so mean and so right at myself, at the same time? 

After a moment of self regret later, a thought popped up. I did the do-for-things principle for 19 years now and not a single thing was achieved even though I've tried my best. There must be some fine details that I've been missing. Against my better judgement, I went through quickly, the books that I've read. The old ones and the new ones. There's a catch. The old books encourage the normal do-for-things principle and the newer ones encourage the do-because-you-wanted-to principle. Some of the new books even stated that the "I give you a bonus and you work harder" effect is getting less and less. Only then I realized that money isn't the best incentive anymore. 

An experiment called 'The candle problem"(Google it up please I beg you) is famously used amongst other behavioral science experiments. The candle problem requires a creative thinking skill to solve. The result of the experiment shows that when a reward is offered, the time taken for someone to solve the problem is longer than to those who wasn't offered any reward. The results are the same for all of the experiments done.  This proves that the do-for-things principle isn't necessarily legit.

How to increase productivity then?

Google's founders, Larry Page and Surgey Brin were aware with this change a put their economical status at stake. They created a worker-friendly workspace instead of giving bonuses, hoping for an increase in productivity. The result was phenomenal. The productivity was dramatically increased through workers'-workplace understanding.

Early 2011, Facebook Headquarters was moved to Menlo Park, California. Since then, the working experience of the workers went 180 degrees. Workers work at their own time. Working from home is also possible as long as they get the work done beautifully and in time. The rules were all bent but not broken, giving their workers more space, the work is very social, no cubical. As expected, the productivity went sky-high.

Mid 90's, Microsoft started an encyclopedia named Encarta. Microsoft paid a set of professional workers to write thousands of articles and post them on budget and on time. A few years later, a new version of encyclopedia, Wikipedia started. The Wikipedia was created for fun. No one gets paid and no one paid. I don't need to tell you who are holding the bigger name of encyclopedia now.

Their key is to use the 'flaws' of freedom as an advantage. The freedom was mannerly controlled. Now here comes the best part. Using this approach, the mental health of workers increases. This triggers a whole new chain of positive effects- mental health increases, workers are happy, they help each other, you learn a lot, healthy competition, a chance work workers to shine thus, increases productivity.

The point is, the secret to high performance isn't reward. You don't do things because you were told to do it, you don't do things just because you got paid, you do things because it matters.

Gulai Telur Itik

BAHAN-BAHANNYA

• 5 biji telur itik
• 3 batang serai, dititik
• 3 helai daun kunyit, 2 disiat, 1 lagi hiris halus
• 10 - 12 biji belimbing buluh, belah 2 tapi tak putus setiap satu
• 2 keping asam gelugor
• 1 liter santan cair
• 400 ml pati santan
• Garam dan gula secukup rasa

BAHAN KISAR HALUS

• 5 biji bawang merah
• 2 ulas bawang puith
• 3/4 inci kunyit hidup
• 1 genggam cili padi kampung

CARA MEMBUATNYA

1. Masukkan bahan kisar halus ke dalam periuk, tambah serai, asam gelugor dan santan cair. Kacau rata dan biar mendidih. Perlahankan api. Pecahkan telur itik dalam mangkuk, berhati2 agar kuning dia tak terjejas. Perlahan2 masukkan ke dalam kuah. Lakukan kaedah sama untuk baki telur. Pastikan telur tadi tidak bertindih antara satu sama lain. 
2. Masak hingga telur mengeras (seperti gambar di atas). Berhati2 terbalikkan (mat guna sudu) dan masak dengan api kecil. Tambah santan pekat dan daun kunyit yang disiat tadi. Bila mendidih, masukkan belimbing. Perasakan dengan garam secukupnya dan secubit gula
3. Masak sekejap, rasa dan jika ok boleh matikan api. Tabur hirisan halus daun kunyit sebelum dihidangkan bersama nasi putih dan lauk pauk yang lain....Selamat mencuba!!.

Telur masak kicap

Bahan-bahan ( 1 hidangan )

• 6 biji telur-goreng mata kerbau
• 1 sb sos tiram
• 2 sb sos cili
• Kicap manis-saya suka guna yg kicap udang
• kayu manis,bunga lawang,cengkih,buah pelaga
• 1 biji bawang besar-hiris
• 4 ulas bwg putih-mayang halus
• Halia
• 1 @ 2 batang cili merah-belah 4 memanjang
• Minyak secukupnya
• Sedikit air

Cara-cara

1. Panaskan minyak,masukkan bhn tumis,kacau dan biarkan sehingga layu .
2. Masukkan kicap manis,sos cili,sos tiram dan sedikit air.Biarkan seketika.
3. Bila kuah dh mendidih dan agak pekat sedikit kering,tuangkan kuah ke dalam pinggan yg berisi telur.

Equality

Equality is a noun derived by the root word of equal. The word equal itself has a lot to tell of. We first introduced to this word indirectly during lessons of Mathematics. From the times of learning numbers, to the age of manipulating them solve multiple enigmas. But still, the usage of the equal symbol is always the same throughout the years. At the end of every equation, the differences between two sides will always be zero. That's why they're called equal. Without differences.

The term equality nowadays, is broadly used in protests especially involving humans' rights. A little that I know, this word is being abused as a barrier to protect themselves. Claiming for equality for all. But there are doubts that I would like to affix on the floor. Their vision of equality still blurs. Realistically, they are asking for the same colour in a multicoloured community. Which consists of the old, the younger. The rich, the poor. The brainy and the rookie.When we are having a look on something. It is fair to see them in various angles before concluding.

There are scoops of angles we could analyse from, considering the important elements of ability, time and status. Discussing things in parts is a great way to see them clearer.

Our fingerprints are all different from one another, even for the identical twins. So there would be no fuss if our abilities far differ from others. Some might not be satisfied with theirs and some, already took the advantages of it. An international idol, brought up by his advantage. He sees himself as a doubtable fact. Now, looked up or envied by the world full of talents.

When it comes to time, it would conclude age. The airs of inequalities in the daily routine lead to the desire of teenagers to live the life of adulthood and adults to do the differ. Youths are tensed by the limitations of the younger. Their wants are bounded by their age. Cranked by those, rebellious act was done, expecting for an equal treatment. On the other hand, the aged are wanting for their awkward age all over again. They're binded by the responsibilities of being the older. Void of the odds to enjoy life.

Advantages could be derived subjectively. Wealth, health, brains or brawns. Living by the code of more is better, society had accepted to value the illusions. Therefore, limiting themselves by the limit of their own illusions. They fear only on what appear and what they see is what they could be. Leaving the poor, isolated. Since everything happens for a reason, there really are a reason why the poor stays poor despite of all his efforts. He valued things based on the object instead of its illusion. Which is, a taboo of public. Unfitting him to efficiently communicate with the majority.

Back to the idea of equality, there should be no total differences between individuals. A leopard should not be approached by how birds are approached and an elephant should not be valued by his ability to climb trees. The brain is, we are  trusted by our own advantages and disadvantages. But in the end, the total mark of ourselves will be alike. The only thing that could bold out ourselves are the strategies. If you are failing, know your ability and earn the equability to exploit it.

Animus

Asalamualaikum and a warm welcome. As this is my first time connecting with the cyberspace via Blogger, I'd like to respect the international tradition by introducing myself. I believe a proper introduction could clear up misassumptions. So this post would be a reference on how I would react towards situations which can identify my emotion on posts. Good messages are delivered with emotions.

I'm currently 18 and a normal civilian. A student of Civil Engineering. I'm not free from the common hint of an engineer or in my case, an engineer to be. My thinking space is limited by the rules and laws that were created by others. Not to be rebellious, but life is only fun if you do things from another nook. But during my adventure to address for varieties, there might be a little glimpse of the real, boring old me. Well, I'm not going to change. I'm just enjoying the odds of being a human. Flexible and adaptable.

During the process of creating this blog, I was asked to write a title and the domain for it. It took me quite some time to settle things out. And so the title New Perspectives was chosen. It is not the perfect title but I was bounded by my lack of vocabularies.

New perspective means a new way to see things happening in our lives. Now, I'm not claiming that everything I'm going to share is going to be brilliant. But it is from an angle of mine and it might be the new addition to the corners of yours. When you see things from a wider field of view, you can visualise the aftermath of an action. Creating a wiser you on making decisions. Which is, to me, a form of explanation on what experience is.

There are lots of types of people and each type throws different view on things. But there are only some who would consider others to come to a neutral conclusion. This was proven by the wars we declared, the lives we killed and the dignities we took. The cause of these were just because we see things differently and failed to see our point of similarity. 

I'm expecting the world to change. Since expectations need efforts to work out, I've decided to start blogging. It might be hard to make a drastic change, but I'd be happy to live knowing that I've done my job to spread words of wisdom to the world along with my brothers and sisters of the same vision and action. My views are only for the purpose of sharing and expressing and my words are nothing more than a food for thought.
